Invest in YourselfIf taking care of you feels like an indulgence rather than a right, its time to consider the cost of this perspective. By Deborah L. Mecklinger, Professional Coach. While many of us are busy doing unto others, we have forgotten how important it is to do unto ourselves. Though our bodies appear to co-operate with our selfless agendas, even to the point of neglect and exploitation, eventually we will break down.
Take a look at your emotional and physical bank account and ask yourself if its balanced. If the reserves are low, here are a few ways to get out of the red: Realign your attitude. Rename behaviours you might have called selfish as for self. Find a friend who knows how to be good to herself and buddy up. Be an actor. Play the part of a woman who deserves to treat herself well. As you develop this role, you will become the character. One treat per day. Do something nice for yourself each day no matter what. The payoff will propel you forward. Remind yourself that you are a priority. Whether its getting to the gym, having dinner with a friend, or simply finding time to read a novel. Investing in you provides positive returns that are essential to sustaining a healthy and balanced life. |
