Make Your Home a Haven If your walls could talk, what would they say? The character of your home tells the world, This is who I am and how I live. A cluttered closet may signify a muddled mind, an empty room may indicate a need for direction, and too many objects may mean youre overloaded. Create your haven from the inside out and let your home be the natural projection of your soul. - Name your style. Perhaps your style is casual elegance, shabby chic, arts and crafts, formal or modern. Define your style from the inside out then decorate accordingly.
- Mark your territory. Take an area you can call your own. Eliminate the Lego and team trophies. Surround yourself with objects you love and experience living in an environment that reflects who you are.
- Be selective. Empty one room. Pretend you just moved in and start from the beginning. You may find everything goes back to its place or that you are a woman who needs more space. Let your newly defined style be your guide.
Some say that if money were not an issue, our homes would say who we are. While money may help, you can create a home that reflects a more authentic you without the credit cards. Carpe Diem! Seize the day and the space! Deborah L. Mecklinger, LL.B., M.S.W. Visit walkthetalkcoaching.com. |
